5 Home Remedies To Help Get Rid Of Dark Spot

Dark spots, also known as sunspots and age spots, are accumulated when melanocytes in the epidermis detect insufficient levels of vitamin D. These dark discoloured patches can be either small or large, often appear anywhere on the face but can occur anywhere on the skin.

Dark spots are caused when the excess melanin in your skin combines with sun exposure, hormones, and ageing. Left untreated, dark spots can become permanent brown marks that show up on your arms, hands, chest or face.

It doesn’t take much to help get rid of this embarrassing spotty discoloration-you only need five minutes and a few household items!

5 Home Remedies To Help Get Rid Of Dark Spot

What you need to know is that these dark spots don’t just disappear on their own – so here are five home remedies for getting rid of dark spots fast.

●    Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea should be brewed from dried chamomile, then allowed to cool before consuming. It is rich in antioxidants that help remove free radicals from the body, and will reduce the appearance of dark spots caused by sun exposure or any other environmental factors.

●    Baking Soda And Lemon Juice

Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with freshly squeezed lemon juice. This mixture should be applied directly to the dark spots (avoiding the eye area) and left on for 20 minutes. Rinse and use a moisturiser.

Baking soda is alkaline and counteracts the effect of the acid in lemon juice, which will fade the dark spots over time.

●    Papaya

Papaya contains the enzyme papain, an agent that helps remove old skin cells and exfoliate them away. The papain enzyme also helps to soften the skin, which means that it can be used to treat flaky patches.

Papaya is rich in vitamins, and also contains acids which help to exfoliate the skin.

●    Cucumber

Cucumber is known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a natural remedy that can be used on the face to reduce the appearance of dark spots, by tightening and toning the skin.

●    Lemon Juice

The citric acid ingredient found in lemons has strong bleaching properties, meaning it can be used as an all-natural remedy to lighten dark spots that are still new.

Some Bonus tips-:

1) Start by washing your face in hot water. Give your face a generous amount of soap and lather it on. You can use an exfoliant like papaya or bicarbonate of soda, but we recommend using a natural exfoliant like lemon juice.

2) Rinse it all off. The combination of hot water added to soap helps loosen the browning cells, so you can easily remove them with a washcloth.

3) Clean your body. Now that the excess skin cells have been washed away, you need to wash the rest with a little muriatic acid. This will ensure that all of the dead skin cells are also removed, too.

4) Apply coconut oil serum to dark spots. The perfect way to treat dark spots is by applying coconut oil serum in order to restore the skin’s natural pH balance and increase collagen production. If you have dark spots, you want to make sure that they are being treated at the surface, not in deeper layers of the skin.

Luckily, coconut oil is good to use on both patches and areas of discoloration as it is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial. Use a small amount of coconut oil that’s been mixed with almond oil to ensure your skin stays hydrated without clogging pores.

5) Allow it all to dry for five minutes.
