Epoxy Flooring Benefits

Epoxy flooring is one of the toughest floors available and also adds a sleek appearance to functional areas.

Epoxy flooring is resistant to chemical damage, making it perfect for healthcare facilities or garages. Corrosive chemicals like brake fluid or heat won’t do any harm either.

Epoxy floors are easy to keep clean, as their smooth surfaces eliminate crevices where bacteria can hide. Furthermore, you can add antimicrobial additives for extra sanitation.

Easy to Maintain

Epoxy flooring are durable and hard-wearing, but it’s still important to keep them clean. Regular sweeping and mopping will help remove dirt, dust, and grit from the surface and help avoid embedding particles within its pores that could scratch over time – this is particularly essential if your facility uses heavy machinery or motor vehicles.

An effective micro fibre mop should be the go-to choice for your flooring, while a high suction vacuum with soft brush attachment should also be utilized regularly in order to clean any dirt or dust trapped between contraction joints or in other tight places.

Scrubbing floors is highly recommended in areas prone to oil and grease build-up, using an effective brush and detergent solution. Regular scrubbing will reduce build-up of oils, lubricants, and other residues that damage epoxy coatings; an ideal cleaning solution includes mixing water and clear ammonia (Windex is one such combination), which won’t degloss over time and works great in most applications.

Easy to Clean

Epoxy flooring is one of the easiest floors to keep clean and maintain, thanks to daily sweeping or vacuuming and mopping with warm water to remove dirt and dust buildup. Mop heads should preferably be made of micro fiber to avoid causing damage to its surface; for best results, simple non-alkaline soap should be used as this won’t harm its coating either.

Spills of chemicals such as acid, oil and antifreeze must be quickly cleaned up to protect an epoxy floor coating from permanent damage. Any large gouges or scratches on the floor must also be repaired immediately to preserve its integrity.

If rust stains appear on an epoxy floor, they can easily be removed by using warm water with a kitchen scrubbing sponge or soft deck brush and kitchen scrubbing pads for kitchen. This method provides an easier and faster method for eliminating these rust stains than using steel wool or harsh chemicals to scrub off. Keeping floors clean is of utmost importance in order to prevent bacteria and pathogens from flourishing on its surface; plus regular cleaning also extends its lifespan.

Durable

Epoxy floors are highly durable, resistant to cracking, staining and fading while holding up well to most chemical spills and drops. Furthermore, epoxy acts as a preservation layer over concrete sub-flooring – saving businesses money by not needing costly flooring replacement errands.

Most epoxy choices offer an eye-catching shine that keeps surfaces looking vibrant and inviting, are easy to maintain, scratch resistant and safe for most cleaning appliances – including acidic ones – making a mop and water often enough all you need for proper upkeep of an epoxy floor.

Most epoxy options can also be made slip-resistant by adding slip-resistance additives like aluminum oxide or silica grit, providing added safety in areas where wet floors pose risks to employees or customers. Epoxy also reduces dust release into the air, making sweeping and cleaning simpler.

Versatile

Epoxy flooring is an increasingly popular choice for commercial and residential spaces alike, making an impressionful statement in hotel lobbies, retail store ambiances, textural finishes and visual interest creation – and more! Epoxy comes in an assortment of colors including eye-catching options like color flakes.

Epoxies have the strength and resilience necessary to withstand shocks, heat and heavy machinery without incurring damage, while also being resistant to chemicals and slip-resistant for safety purposes – making them perfect for garage floors or any industrial spaces that house vehicles.

Epoxy flooring installation is an efficient process that leaves no harmful fumes when conducted correctly by experienced professionals. Before coating begins, concrete must be completely dry and clean prior to application of base coat and colorants (epoxy blends offer many options), then finished off with clear topcoat that seals in color flake while offering optimal wear-and-tear protection for your floor.

Easy to Install

Epoxy flooring can be much simpler to install than other floor options, saving money in labor costs while also helping your facility reopen much sooner after installation.

Epoxies work best on clean concrete surfaces and before applying an epoxy coating you should inspect it for cracks, chips and spalls. A quality broom or flat-edge shovel and shop vac should be used to clear away dust, dirt, oils, solvents or debris from the floor before the application of any epoxy coatings. Concrete should then be degreased and etched using muriatic acid according to product instructions or other means.

Once your area has been prepared, epoxy can be poured and spread using either a felt roller or squeegee equipped with calipers on both ends to achieve an even coat that’s ready for walking on. After it dries completely, any color or decorative flakes that will make your floor stand out can be added before a protective top coat is added on top to provide slip resistance.
